The Sphagnum moss offered here comes from the rain-rich south of Chile from sustainable production that takes environmental protection into account. The moss consists mainly of long fibres. It is collected by hand and then dried. The moss can then rest and recover for around 8 years before being harvested again. As it is only extracted by hand and no machines are used, the sensitive moor and the ecosystem are not jeopardised in their growth and development, but rather their preservation is promoted.
It is indispensable for plant care and propagation. The antibacterial effect of the special saccaride compounds efficiently and permanently inhibits the formation of putrefactive bacteria and mould despite its high water-holding capacity, making Chilean Sphagnum ideal for use as a substrate, especially for young plants, but also as an additive for ready-made substrates.
